Dear Friends,
It seems no time at all since our wonderfully enjoyable Brahms and Carmina Burana Festival Concert in July and on behalf of the Management Committee, I would like to welcome you all to the start of the new Choir year. Please accept our apologies for this later than normal notification which is due to unavoidable factors.
Our first rehearsal will be at 7.30 p.m. in the Drama Room at Chepstow Leisure Centre this coming Wednesday 3rd September. During September and October we will be preparing for our 2009 programme. Some of the required music will be available for purchase during the first few weeks of the new term.
Spring Concert 2009.
To include: Karl Jenkins; The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace, John Stainer; The Crucifixion, Purcell; Funeral Sentences.
Summer Concert 2009.
To include: Handel; Dettingen Te Deum, Handel; Four Coronation Anthems.
Rehearsals for our Christmas Concert on Saturday 13th December will begin early in November.
The Choir has recently been invited to participate in the Inauguration Service of the new Mayor of Chepstow, Cllr David Dovey on Sunday 14th September 2008 at 3.00pm in
St. Mary’s Church in Chepstow. Together with congregational hymns, the Choir will sing two items; ‘Linden Lea’ (S.A.T.B. version which some of you may already have, so please bring along) and ‘Calon Lân’, a special version with Welsh phonetic wording which will be provided. We hope for a good representation from the Choir’s ranks for this civic occasion
We hope that you have enjoyed the summer break and look forward to seeing you on Wednesday for the start of an exciting and busy musical year.
Yours sincerely
Jean
