CCS2000 - Chepstow Choral Society: Into the Millennium and Onward...
CCS -

Chepstow Choral Society entered a new phase in its history when it marked the commencement of the Millennium with a performance of Edward Elgar's choral masterpiece The Dream of Gerontius. It was a wonderful coincidence that the centenary year of the first performance of this work was 2000 and also that it coincided with the biennial Chepstow Festival, thereby giving a marvellous opportunity for the Society.

Since that July 2000 performance, the Society has continued to develop its musical horizons. Under the Society's current Musical Director, Graham Bull, the choir has a commitment to produce the best of which it is capable and the philosophy is to enjoy singing, to keep choral music alive in these difficult times, and to present programmes which are not only attractive in which to participate and challenging to achieve, but are also enjoyable for our audiences. The Society has also recently embarked upon a policy of providing opportunities for young musicians who are commencing their professional careers, and this has generated a favourable response from audiences who have been delighted to support the future musicians of this country.
